A Closer Look at a Bride Tradition in Asia

Weddings https://www.jiosaavn.com/featured/ishqiyaan/dyqSeSlJrvI_ are by character a fusion of two people and their cultures. With that in mind, some Asian civilizations have countless practices and rituals surrounding the marriage weekends. Some may be acquainted with the Mehndi Ceremony, but what about the Milni Festival? Let’s taking a closer look at some of the most famous wedding history in eurasia.

The Mehndi ( or Henna ) ceremony is a pre- wedding indian women festival where the bride and her female family members and friends get their hands decorated with intricate henna designs. This is not only a joyous occasion but it also symbolizes the strength of the friendship between the wife and her future hubby.

On the day of the wedding, the wedding is often escorted to her groom’s apartment by her paternal brother and is welcomed by the male members of the couple’s household with reddish packets of wealth( much like we might observe a “celebrity” produce a grand entry at their bride). The groom makes his way to the mandap where he sits alongside the bride and takes seven steps, which are similar to saying their vows in a western wedding.

The tying of the knot is typically followed by the Saptapadi, where the couple promises themselves and each other that they will honor their parents, live in harmony and treat each other with respect. Then the newly married couple will leave for their honeymoon! Traditionally, the groom would escort his bride back to her parents on the third day after the wedding and honor them by paying respects to their elders. This was to thank them for raising her and to show their appreciation and respect for her.
